Trash & Recycling Service

Trash, recycling and yard waste in Arabella on the Prairie is collected by Best Trash under contract to Fort Bend County Municipal Utility District No. 162.

Collection is arranged by the district, not by the homeowners association. Missed collections, broken carts and questions about what the truck will take go to Best Trash.

Check Current Service Information

Have your carts at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on your service day.

Your carts

  • Put carts at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on your service day.
  • Bag household rubbish before it goes in the cart.
  • Keep the area clear of parked cars so the truck can reach the cart.
  • Bring the carts back in after collection.

A broken cart is replaced, not your problem to fix. Best Trash replaces damaged trash cans for this district — ring them on (281) 313-2378.

Recycling

Collected every Thursday, in the recycling cart.

  • Keep it separate from household rubbish.
  • Empty containers and get the food and liquid out first.
  • Break cardboard down so it does not jam or overfill the cart.

The district does not publish its own accepted-materials list, so this page will not invent one. If you are not sure whether something is recyclable, ask Best Trash rather than guessing — one wrong item can spoil a whole load.

Branches, trimmings and yard waste

Put out on either collection day, Monday or Thursday.

  • Nothing thicker than 4 inches in diameter.
  • Cut to no more than 4 feet long.
  • Tied and bundled, each bundle under 40 pounds.
  • Up to five tied bundles per collection day.

If a landscaper did the work, the landscaper takes it away. The district has asked residents not to leave contractor trimmings at the curb — hauling it off is normally part of what you are already paying for.

Heavy trash

Ring Best Trash before you put a large item at the curb, rather than after. They will tell you whether it goes on a regular day, what has to come off it first, and whether anything needs arranging.

What is not collected

Dirt, sod, mulch, rocks, bricks, tile, concrete, tires, batteries, motor oil, cooking oil, sheetrock, insulation and construction debris do not go out with household trash.

Never hide a liquid in a bin. Motor oil, cooking oil and paint leak, stain the street and damage the truck.

Chemicals, batteries and tires

None of these go in your carts or your heavy trash. They go to the Fort Bend County Recycling Center, 1200 Blume Road, Rosenberg. Check your options and confirm what they accept, any fees, proof-of-residency rules and opening hours before you drive out.

Holidays

Best Trash has suspended trash and recycling service for Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

Check the district's notice each year. The holiday list has not been the same two years running — one year's notice said service continued through Christmas and New Year's, the next said it did not. The district posts the current year's schedule before the holidays. Read that rather than relying on this page.

Who handles what

Best Trash handles trash, recycling, carts and missed collections on (281) 313-2378.

Water and sewer is the district, not Best Trash: Fort Bend County MUD No. 162, on 832-490-1600.

Your homeowners association handles deed restrictions and community matters — not the bins.

When you report a missed collection, have your address, which service was missed, the date it was due, what happened, and a photograph if there is one to take.
